CHAIRMAN JACKSON HOSTS PRESS CONFERENCE TO DEMAND WEST PALM BEACH POLICE CHIEF SARAH MOONEY RESIGN, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
West Palm Beach, FL – With 10 Homicides and no leads in less than 40 days, the City of West Palm Beach police have failed to design and implement a strategy to assist in curbing the recent increase in deaths. As these senseless killings continue to take place; all geographically located in the same area, it is the Chief of Police whose responsible for drafting and directing Assistant Chiefs to execute strategy that inserts the PD into community relations in such a way that allows for proactive policing and not reactive.
Due to the lack of response specifically from Chief Sarah Mooney of the West Palm Beach Police Department, Chairman Jackson is demanding that Chief Mooney resign, effective immediately.
Chairman Jackson will host a press conference with concerned members of the community, today, Monday, April 29, 2019 in the Courtyard of the West Palm Beach City Hall, starting at 1:00PM.
“As a lifelong resident of this beautiful city I have a vested interest in ensuring that residents of the entire city be kept safe and protected from senseless killings such as those most recent.
Every time someone is murdered a mother and father must bury a child, prematurely. Having personally been raised in the Historic Northwest myself, I’ve seen these heinous acts far too many times, and though the responsibility also bares on the community itself to share information and just as importantly be educated about better conflict resolution remedies in lieu of resulting to gun violence, it is also the responsibility of the PD to assist community in remaining safe. This Chief has not made such responsibility a commitment and therefore I feel its in the best interest of both the community and the reputation of the PD that she resigns, effective immediately.”
